Extension Aftercare

Follow these hair care tips + tricks to ensure the longevity of your hair, color, and install.

Hair Serum/Oil:

You need to make sure you are adding the necessary hydration to your extensions to make sure they don’t get dry and break on the ends. We highly recommend the Goldie Locks Serum. Apply 1-2x day through mid and ends and brush through. Aids with frizz, adds shine, manageability, color longevity, and softness, and keeps the hair tangle free.

Brushing:

Brush at least 2x day. Section hair and brush in-between wefts to ensure there is no matting if you are wearing more than one row. Brush from bottom to top to reduce breakage and tangling.

Heat Protectant:

This is a must for extensions. If you don’t, you may notice your extensions getting shorter over time. Nobody wants to fry their hair or their extension hair! It also ensures the color does not get brassy too soon.

Do not go to bed with wet hair.

Always ensure the base of the weft is dry before going to bed to prevent matting, tangling, or unnecessary breakage.

Professional hair products:

You need necessary ingredients to make sure your extensions stay hydrated and maintain the color and length. The shampoo and conditioner you are using to cleanse your extensions are so important. Goldie Locks is our highest recommendation as it provides the extensions and natural hair with ALL essential ingredients to maintain the hair as long as possible.

Sunscreen:

ONLY use mineral sunscreen on your skin. If your hair comes in contact with chemical sunscreen, a chemical reaction happens and it turns your hair extensions orange. ANYTHING with benzone as an ingredient in sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen, and is not reef /environmentally safe. Mineral sunscreen only.
